June 1 and 2
Shortcut L(I)EBEN - a title that could work. Or it could be too pathetic. We'll see.
At 9.30 a.m., a team gathered in a bar in Moabit, coffee and croissants in hand, no tension noticeable. At 10.15 the first clapperboard dropped. A film, written by me and also responsible for the content and creative realization, stars two actresses whose resemblance is so incredibly different that they breathe life into the idea for the film. “It's not what you say, it's how you say it!” Instruction from the director. No budget means confidence and support from outside. Could I still cry with joy? Yes. Does that give me a feeling that: it was worth it? Definitely. Because who would shoot a short film for 10 hours on a Saturday in a darkened bar when it's 25 degrees outside and the sun is shining? Those were two days that demanded a lot physically, I swear I won't be able to walk on Monday. And not only to have full concentration on the actors and the camera, but also to get coffee here, prepare the room there, continuity, notes, props ... but everyone, everyone on set gave me the feeling that this is good and cool and has to be made possible!
So, total shooting time: 16-18 hours, days used: 2! Bliss? 200000 %. Physical exhaustion: everything + 10, pizza with mayonnaise - should be banned. Beer after a long day? - Already something God created. The goal?- to finish by end of July with a finished short film. Fingers cross!
June 3rd
Music
Jan and Oli's Sunday show with provocations from Oli against Jan.
Movie
For once a super uninteresting, really typically made Netflix documentary Dancing for the Devil about a cult in America who have taken on TikTok dancers to destroy families and advance their cult-like cult. Ah, America.
A movie (The Idea of You) that quite accidentally (no, quite intentionally) hit the big screen with Play. Starring Anne Hathaway (remember rants regarding Les Miserables) and a very attractive, young, British actor in a decidedly boring, somewhat Notting Hill-esque movie that's perfect for a bit of work on the side, a bit of Instagram, a voicemail here, a cup of tea there.
Book
What do we actually think of Schirach - is this something to start next?
Other Inspirations
Bliss.
June 4
Music
New discovery: Neal Brenon's Blocks (God, I really ought to take a course that explains how the internet works) anyway, clever conversations with great, great comedians. After our work was done, we were most devoted to the new Großstadtgeflüster album, sat down on the S-Bahn with rays of sunshine, only to be greeted by clouds in Mitte. The crowning finale: Thirty Seconds to Mars - This is War. Head cinema level 1000, God I listened to this album many times, back then with a CD in my little Ford Fiesta.
Movie
If the weather permits, you should finally go to an outdoor movie theater.
Book
Sally is waiting.
Other Inspirations
Oh yes, drinking wine with good friends and catching up and knowing, even though it's a busy life, that you'll always find time for that.
June 5
Rude awakening, the body says it needs battery.
Music
I spent an ENTIRE DAY NOT CONSUMING PODCAST OR MUSIC.
Movie
But instead, I watched 2 movies that are actually, and I only realized this towards the end of the day, connected by an actor: Well, RED EYE HAS BEEN ON MY LIST FOR YEARS, simply because after Peaky Blinders, my heart (and that of many others) beats for Cillian Murphy. And Rachel McAdams is great too - just not the movie. A pretty cheap thriller story with an airplane phone... Well,
Surprisingly, there was a movie on the tiff: Fun Fact, the German title is My Secret Life, while the original title is What Comes Around. Well.
Small almost chamber play with really many unexpected twists, well acted, easy to watch, and quite Arthaus. 4 out of 7 stars.
Other Inspirations
I've done my taxes!!!
When friends do what you want to do but don't have the balls yet, it's good motivation. Plus: comedy nights are big on the list again, can't be true that you were too busy for that. IT'S JUNE.
June 6
Things are looking up, the improvement is helped along with yoga and lots of water.
Music
For yoga, the new Verbrechen episode, which revisits its very first episode. And then: movie songs. Great, they really put me in a good mood. In the evening it was Thirty seconds to Mars again. I'll just listen to them forever now. Decidedly!
Movie
How annoying it is when you think you've downloaded something on Netflix and then it's only up to 18%. That makes no sense at all.
Book
Somehow the chapters are divided into:. Character 1, and what happens in that life. Character 1 writes character 2 a letter, character 2 fucks all the time, character 2 writes character 1 a letter. (I hope that wasn't too much of a spoiler).
Oh. And sex. It's getting to be all about that. Boring.
Other Inspirations
Duty calls and the call comes from Potsdam. What a blast. It's a great ride, through the countryside and Potsdam is really, really beautiful. Then a bit of music from great musicians, a few old faces (in the sense that we've known each other for a long time, not that the faces are old), and wistfully back to the rainy capital. Tomorrow there will be art.
