Music
Whew, I'm really starting to run out of steam after listening to Les Miserables over and over and over again and not having managed to watch the movie yet. Will Hamilton suffer the same fate? How can you protect yourself from it?
I'm back, back in the New York groove. When you're alone, and life is making you lonely You can always go Downtown and I wanna wake up, in a city that doesn't sleep.
Well, well, well, if on the one hand, you try to play down your nervousness with music, and on the other hand the music pushes up your nervousness, you're caught in a certain vicious circle that will hopefully come to an end on Thursday.
The Big Little Lies soundtrack was already a hit in 2017, but it goes very well with BBQ on the balcony.
80s music, whether German or American or French or, well, in any case, it was a good decade for music, if not one of the best, if not the best. It's worth throwing a party for, isn't it?
Movie
3 Body Problem is becoming more of a one-body problem and the body is mine. Yeah yeah yeah yeah, sci-fi isn't my thing, I already revealed that with Dune 2 and that I'm a fan of British series (even more than the Americans - bah, Americans), too.
Let's get to the facts: Aliens? Fucking aliens who invent computer games to prepare us, the glorious human race, for their visit with Spaceship? Then there are THE selected scientists who all look FANTASTIC and then my new favorite Botox actress who can't show much emotion because her face doesn't move anymore, as well as THE Navi leader who looks 25. But of course - they will save the world, I believe it. Deeply, firmly, and quickly please, so we can return to my suburban wives.
Böhmi böhmi böhmi, I should give him more time.
Book
Speaking of aliens:
Stephen King, my childhood hero at the time (parents in disguise who think it's not a bad idea to give their kid Stephen King audiobooks at age 7) had written a book. The Dome. 1200 pages, until page 800 I had no friends, no social life, and had to be force-fed because it was so exciting: and then? THEN HE BRINGS STUPID ALIENS INTO THE GAME TOO!
Other Inspirations
Tada, I say, barbecuing is a thing now. And table tennis (buja, table tennis) and O.J. Simpson is dead. But Elton John is still alive, and Rocketman is now on Netflix and America can drive you crazy with visas and plans.
April 15
Sometimes it's just as primitive as you wouldn't dare to believe. In detail?
Take the scene in a bar: a straight couple at a table, the date doesn't look very euphoric, let alone interested. She drinks cocktails, he drinks beer. Price ratio: 3:1.
Who pays?
And who gets excused afterward, saying she has to go home?
Music
After an almost perfect spring Sunday (the wind, Germans always find something to complain about), Oli and Jan chat happily into Monday morning.
Movie
The 4th season of Vorstadtweiber is over and exudes neither Viennese flair nor a certain tension. Either I've outgrown the series or it really isn't what it used to be.
Teddy Teclebrhan's show: Not really my cup of tea, but for everything he does: 8 out of 5 stars. What a guy! What a machine!
Bumping Mics discovered (at last, new comedy!) Episode 1 - great. Episode 2 - what a bad presenter. So absolutely from another century.
Book
What Andy must have been up to between April 18 and 25 ....
Other Inspirations
We started with those today. Otherwise, there's probably just: New York, New York, New York.
April 16
Music
Have we found a New York Groove Playlist? We have found it! Buja.
Movie
Aaaand recorded a new podcast episode aaaand watched a bit of Shameless and started a new season aaaaand thought about skipping Vorstadtweiber again.
Are we well prepared for the big trip? We're nervous, nervous, nervous.
Book
Mick Jagger asked Andy for a new cover. (1977). He was at all kinds of parties with all kinds of people and the city was Disneyland for adults/artists in the 70s and 80s.
Other Inspirations
For some inexplicable reason, it feels like going home and seeing your parents you haven't spoken to in too long. You know home by heart, but you have no idea of the conversations and stuff from the past that could become a topic, nor the aging process and such.
April 17
I can't remember the last time I was so upset that I wished for a hangover to replace one feeling with another.
Music
It's the Wednesday show Boomercringe. NEAL BRENNAN HAS RELEASED A NEW NETFLIX SHOW AND I'VE ONLY JUST SEEN IT AND NEED TO CONSUME IT IMMEDIATELY! He heard me, finally some good new comedy. Thanks, man, thanks. Also for being so smart and discussing smart stuff with Joe Rogen and I just think you're awesome anyway. Apart from that, Songs for Drella is of course waiting in the wings because it's simply the best album of all time, and yes, precisely because of New York.
Movie
We still have one episode of 1 Body Problem / 3 Body Problem to go and we still find it difficult. There will probably be a 2nd season. Boring.
For general amusement, of course, Andy's Diaries. God, how I love it.
Book

I got jealous that i didn’t buy more buildings down there when they were cheap - lots of them - AW
Other Inspirations
Whew, working, packing, trying not to panic or burst into tears or laugh like Joker crazy on the subway.
April 18
The sun is shining, the coffee tastes good, the apartment is clean and locked, stupid 70 euros for the stupid suitcase that British Airwaves didn't include, because of course, you fly to New York with hand luggage for a week - LOGICAL!!!
Music
Neal Brennan's 3 Mics, like I said, love him!
Podcast downloaded (Mhmmm, True Crime to fall asleep to) and Bo. Because Bo is airport tradition.
Question: How is Beyonce’s new album?
Movie
The wonderfully, incredibly written, feminist, and topical Catperson was awarded 4.8 out of 5 stars, thanks to British Airwaves. Plus Jules is a very cute, not very meaningful alien movie and Meg 2 is something loud to fall asleep to on the side, forget what's coming through your headphones, wake up, scowl, take out your headphones, and go back to sleep.
Book
Back to the surfers, probably not going to be such a simple story after all.

Here we are, back home, back in New York
